02 / WHO I AM

For over twenty years I have moved between technology and the people who need to use it. I started with cables and servers; today I spend most of my time untangling systems – technical and bureaucratic – looking for places where they can be simplified.

Technology is not the goal for me, but a tool. What interests me is what lasts: a solution that outlives its author, documentation a successor can understand, and a process that does not depend on one person. That is why I prefer open-source software and transparent practices that anyone can verify.

I used to play with graphics. Away from the screen I enjoy football and other ball games, board games and inline skating.

03 / WHAT I WORK ON

A1 Open technologies Linux opened the way into the open-source ecosystem for me, and it has been my starting point ever since. I support open software and open hardware – what is open can be verified, adapted and passed on.

A2 Connecting and learning I learn most from problems and from connecting systems that were never designed to talk to each other. It forces me to understand how things relate across domains and it widens my horizons. Shared knowledge lasts longer than any single solution.

A3 Digital society I want a digital state where citizens need not fear blanket surveillance and where dealing with an authority is simple – what the state already knows about me, I should not have to fill in again. I hold to public money – public code: public money should deliver results for citizens, not vendor lock-in.

A4 Smart home Automation that helps and makes life simpler – Home Assistant and microcontrollers (ESP32 or Arduino, for instance). Ideally local, or at least with minimal dependence on cloud services.

A5 AI as a tool I use it daily for work, not as a topic. What interests me is where it holds up in quality and where it has to be checked. AI assistants can not only speed things up but also open up new possibilities.

A6 Music and DJing Trance, psytrance and techno – music that is layered and keeps changing. Mixing combines it into something new: a mood and an idea that can be passed on.

Yggdrasil is the tree that connects worlds. This site does the same in miniature: it connects professional work, public activity and knowledge into one system. Everything here follows three words – understand, open, improve.
